Iconic Destination Dining at Buchanan Galleries Development in Glasgow Takes ShapePress release

Land Securities, the UK’s largest commercial property company, has announced three leading food and beverage brands and three fashion MSU’s (medium sized units) to join its three anchors at its eagerly awaited Buchanan Galleries development. Acclaimed leisure operators D&D London and Living Ventures Group along with Superdry and Mango have all signed to the 1.2m sq ft (111,484 sq m) retail and dining destination in Glasgow. The news comes just one month after Land Securities took 100% control of one of the largest city-centre developments in Europe.
D&D London, one of Europe’s leading luxury restaurant and hotel groups, which operates in London, Paris, New York, and Tokyo and is famous for its celebrated restaurants Skylon and Coq d’Argent, has chosen Glasgow – a city renowned for its rich culture and unique style – to open a brand new 10,000 sq ft (929 sq m)restaurant. The renowned leisure operator has signed three years ahead of opening in order to secure a truly iconic location within the scheme with rooftop views over Glasgow’s prime retail pitch, Buchanan Street. The deal signifies a market entry into Scotland for D&D London.

I am sure that we will be equally as successful at Buchanan Galleries.”
Manchester based Living Ventures Group, operator of some of the most exciting restaurant and bar brands in the UK and run by Tim Bacon – one of the UK’s most successful restaurant entrepreneurs – has also chosen Buchanan Galleries, with Artisan Kitchen+Bar and The Alchemist, taking 13,000sq ft (1,208 sq m) and 7,000 sq ft (650 sq m) respectively. The Alchemist features in-house mixologists – creating an atmosphere of enthralling cocktail theatre – with views over the historic roof of Queen’s Street Station.
These exciting leisure operators will form part of the 200,000 sq ft (18,581 sq m) leisure district of food and beverage and cinema space in Buchanan Galleries, delivered unprecedentedly over one dedicated floor.
Global fashion brands Mango and Superdry have grasped the opportunity to take a strong and prominent foothold in the city, taking 17,000 sq ft (1,579 sq m) and 15,000 sq ft (1,394 sq m) respectively. The addition of three of the UK’s most popular brands will provide the shopping centre’s extension with an unrivalled fashion offer within the city, acting as a huge draw for the throngs of savvy Glaswegian shoppers.
Upon completion, the Buchanan scheme will create an unprecedented 1.2 million sq ft (111,484 sq m) of retail, leisure and dining space into the largest retail city in the UK after London.

The three MSU signings will add to the previously announced anchor stores – a new flagship 150,000 sq ft (13,935 sq m) Marks & Spencer will join a reconfigured 300,000 sq ft (27,871 sq m) John Lewis department store.
Next – the leading British multinational clothing, footwear and homewares retailer – has secured extra space in the development to turn its existing 28,000 sq ft (2,601 sq m) store into a stunning 72,000 sq ft (6,689 sq m) flagship.
When complete in winter 2017, Buchanan Galleries will house over 100 shops, 25 restaurants and a state-of-the-art multi-screen Showcase Cinema de Lux. This 10-screen cinema, anchoring the leisure element of the new extension, will include a VIP gallery bar and lounge, together with a lobby bar and lounge, providing cinema-goers with a universally entertaining experience. A large format XPlus screen, the latest Dolby Digital surround sound system and top-of-the-range Sony Digital 4k projectors will further ensure that visitors enjoy a thoroughly immersive film experience.
