FROM MELBOURNE TO CARDIFF – SMIGGLE CHOOSES ST DAVID’S FOR FIRST STORE IN WALESPress release
Smiggle is opening its first store in Wales at St David’s in Cardiff. The Australian stationery and accessories brand has taken a 1,339 sq ft unit, plus ancillary storage, on St David’s Way, close to Tiger, Ecco, Wallis and Accessorize and will be opening later this month.
This latest signing follows hot on the heels of Shake Shack’s plans to open its first restaurant outside London at St David’s. Jack & Jones has also recently upsized and H & M is planning a much bigger store at the centre. Other recent additions include Primark, Mac, Alba Rose, Barburrito, Wahaca and Treetop Adventure Golf.
St David’s is owned and operated by the St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between intu and Land Securities. Speaking on behalf of the Partnership, Julian Wilkinson, regional director of intu, said, “This has been an exciting twelve months for St David’s, which has one of the largest footfalls in the UK and has now delivered over 80 new brands to Wales. Smiggle is an on trend brand that was an absolute must for our customers. With brands like Smiggle, Shake Shack and Wahaca, we are delivering even more fun to what is one of the best places to shop in the UK.”
John Cheston, Managing Director at Smiggle, adds: "Wales, and specifically Cardiff, was always key to our expansion plans in the United Kingdom. We're delighted that our first store to open in Wales will be at the leading retail destination of St David's".
