Bluewater prepares for Black Friday weekend surgePress release
Bluewater, Europe’s leading retail and leisure destination, is preparing for a sales surge over the Black Friday weekend. Coinciding with November payday, the three days are expected to be one of Bluewater’s busiest of the Christmas period.
To help cater for the increased number of guests, Bluewater has extended its opening hours for the weekend, with all stores trading from 9am until 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Some brands, such as John Lewis, will be opening even earlier at 8am on both days. In addition, click and collect is being actively promoted as an integral part of Bluewater’s offer this Christmas.
Bluewater’s line-up is also its strongest-ever this Christmas following the addition of a number of new brands this year, including Victoria’s Secret, Pink, adidas Homecourt, Five Guys, Bill’s Restaurant, Rockar Hyundai, Jo Malone and Steamer Trading Cookshop. In addition, White Stuff and American Eagle are making their Bluewater debuts in time for the Black Friday weekend. A number of brands are also running Black Friday weekend promotional offers, reflecting expectations it will be one of the key trading weekends of the year.
The news follows another strong month for Bluewater, with sales in October up by 4.5% compared to the same time last year. This is significantly ahead of the 1.4% reported by BRC-KPMG for the UK as a whole.
Commenting on Bluewater’s preparation, Robert Goodman, General Manager, said: “Black Friday weekend was a phenomenal success for Bluewater in 2013 and we expect it to be even bigger this year, which is why we began planning with our retailers 12 months ago.
“In addition to our better than ever offer and experience, the weekend coincides with November payday. These factors, combined with the strength of retailer promotions over the weekend, means it will be a defining moment of the Christmas period.”
The Black Friday weekend also coincides with the opening of Bluewater’s Winter Wonderland, complete with its indoor ice rink, Ice Palace grotto and a special Christmas gifts fayre, all of which add to Bluewater’s unique day-out experience.
