Bluewater celebrates Best of Kent with new fine food pop-up

Bluewater, Europe’s leading retail and leisure destination, is hosting Kent-based Macknade Fine Foods in a six week pop-up launched in conjunction with Visit Kent and Produced in Kent. The pop-up is the first in an initiative entitled Best of Kent, through which Bluewater will be supporting a variety of businesses from the county.

Macknade, which was recently named the Best Local Retailer 2015 at the Taste of Kent awards, opened its 1,700 sq ft pop-up on the lower Rose Gallery on April 1 and will be in residence at Bluewater until May 9.

The brand is the South East’s leading food hall, built on a 170-year history of food, farming and retailing in Faversham. It stocks over 120 suppliers from Kent, with produce including cheese, groceries and beverages. As well as selling products, its Bluewater pop-up is hosting tasting sessions. 

Commenting on the pop-up, Robert Goodman, Bluewater’s General Manager, said: “Macknade Fine Foods’ Best of Kent pop-up is another example of our focus on providing something different for guests on every visit. The store adds to the overall Bluewater experience and has been very popular with our guests already.

“As importantly, we are delighted to be showcasing such a great local business, providing them with high visibility at such a popular time of the year at Bluewater.”

Stefano Cuomo, owner and founder of Macknade, added: “This is a great opportunity for us to bring our brand to such a large number of people from throughout the region. Bluewater’s guests have really embraced the pop-up and sales to date are far in excess of our expectations.”

The Best of Kent initiative is the latest in a series of innovative pop-ups to appear at Bluewater. Brands such as Tesla, Volvo and the Science Museum have all created highly successful brand experience stores at Bluewater in the last 12 months.
