Press release

Land Securities has announced that Breitling, the Swiss luxury technical watch brand, is to open a 1,583 sq ft boutique on Bluewater’s upper Rose Gallery. The boutique, due to open this autumn, will be the first of its kind to be managed by Aurum Holdings, the UK's largest luxury retailer of brand’s Goldsmiths, Mappin and Webb and Watches of Switzerland to name a few.

The new Bluewater boutique will stock Breitling’s full range, including its famous Navitimer, Transocean and Professional models, as well as the exclusive Breitling for Bentley collection.  The boutique will also offer servicing facilities for new and existing owners.

Commenting on the news, Russell Loveland, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, said: “Breitling is a very strong addition to Bluewater’s premium offer.  They join Montblanc and Jo Malone as another key Bond Street retailer to select Bluewater as a complementary location for their brand.”

Ruth Benford, Executive Marketing Director at Aurum Holdings, added: “Bluewater is a premium location highly regarded by affluent consumers. Consequently, it has a track record of delivering exceptional levels of sales of luxury watches and jewellery, which we have seen with our own brands, Goldsmiths and Mappin and Webb, making Bluewater the perfect location for a Breitling boutique.

“This is an exceptional move for us and one we are confident will make a very positive contribution to the brand’s performance and profile.”

The announcement follows consistently strong jewellery sales at Bluewater, with a 21% year-to-date increase, driven largely by premium watch brands and high-end jewellery.

The official supplier to world aviation, Breitling specialises in technical watches and has played a key role in the development of the wrist chronograph.  The brand is renowned for its sturdy, high-performance instruments and is one of the only major watch manufacturers to equip all of its models with chronometer-certified movements.  A family business, Breitling is one of the last remaining independent Swiss watch brands and is distinct in producing its own mechanical chronograph movements.

CBRE acted for Bluewater.  Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Brietling.
