Barburrito is a wrap at CardiffPress release
Mexican restaurant group Barburrito is joining the restaurant line up at St David’s in Cardiff. This is the group’s first venture in Wales and plans are underway to offer a new and expanded menu when it opens its doors later this month.
Morgan Davies, CEO of Barburrito comments, “We will be launching our 34 cover restaurant at St David’s in Cardiff with a new and expanded menu, which is being tested at some of our existing sites. As the UK’s first burrito bar chain, we continue to invest in staying ahead of the competition and, in Cardiff, we are excited to be launching our new brand and interior designs. St David’s is a fantastic shopping destination and we are delighted to be opening here.”
Jim Bishop, newly appointed Head of Property at Barburrito, said: “We are delighted to be opening at St David’s. This is the first of many new restaurants as we expand throughout the UK with the aim to double our estate over the next couple of years."
Julian Wilkinson, regional director at intu commented on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between intu and Land Securities, “Barburrito is a brand that we feel our customers will love and we are delighted that they are to be part of our expanded leisure offer. Wahaca opened its first restaurant outside the South East at St David’s last year and is trading exceptionally well. Discovery Adventure Golf is also opening its first venture this Spring at the centre.”
St David’s shopping centre provides over 1.4 million sq ft of retail and leisure space and over 180 stores. Since opening its doors in 2009, it has put Cardiff firmly on the map as one of the UK’s best shopping cities.
St David’s has secured a continuous stream of high calibre retailer and restaurant openings over the past five years, including many brands that have made their debut or introduced new concept stores into Wales. 2014 saw the arrival of MAC Cosmetics, Primark, Beauty Studio by Superdrug, Size? and Wahaca.
During peak times of the year, over one million customers visit the Welsh shopping capital each week, spending over £1 million daily.
St David’s Partnership was advised by Jones Lang LaSalle and Cushman & Wakefield. David Hemming of Burley Browne represented Barburrito.Back to news list
